State Line History
State Line sits on the border of Wayne and Greene counties in rural Southeast Mississippi, and lives up to its name as the town is but a stone's throw from Alabama. State Line was a prominant rail stop along the old Gulf, Mobile and Ohio line, and the town's historic business district was developed parallel to the old rail thoroughfare.
The community was incorporated as a municipality on February 12, 1875.
State Line is located at Latitude 31 degrees, 26 minutes and 16 seconds North; Longitude 88 degrees, 28 minutes and 34 seconds West (31.437799, -88.476104).
The town's area - roughly measured at 4.30 square miles (4.27 square miles of land and .03 square miles of water) - sits about equally in both counties with Town Hall, the State Line Police Department and the State Line Fire Department in the Wayne County half of the municipality.
State Line's U.S. Postal Service ZIP Code is 39362.
