Seniors encouraged to enroll in employment program

May 2, 2013

The South Mississippi Planning and Development District's Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is designed to provide, foster and promote useful part-time opportunities in community service employment for low-income persons who are 55 years of age or older and, to the extent feasible, to assist and promote the transition of program enrollees to private or other unsubsidized employment.

The program is available to Wayne County area seniors.

The purpose of SCSEP is to provide the community or communities in which they operate with additional dimensions of skills and aptitudes, which can be drawn upon to improve and upgrade existing human services or to establish new human services efforts.

For information, contact Jan Hale, SCSEP Program Coordinator with the Area Agency on Aging at (228) 868-2311 or toll-free at (800) 444-8014. You can also visit the program via SMPDD online by clicking on this link.
